Purim and the “Mask” that We See
Print This Page

Purim is a time when we acknowledge that what we see is often far from the reality of what’s happening behind the scenes — be it the masks that are worn, drinking “a little” to bring out one’s inner thoughts, or simply the story of Purim, which is an enigma in itself.  It describes a time in our history that forecasts the complete annihilation of our people…only to end with the return of the Jews to our roots, our faith and our homeland.  It’s a remarkable story, not only because it’s our past, but even more so because Purim, like so many of our great holidays, reminds us of the potential of similar scenarios replaying in our future.

In our generation we are seeing this eventuality start to unfold, and The House is committed to uncovering its potential!  I have always believed that while we often read article after article lamenting statistics which speak of an unengaged generation of Jewish young adults, nothing could be further from reality.  Each day The House is witness to a resurgence of enthusiastic participation in Jewish events that are open and transparent about their goal: to inspire Jewish minds, and to appreciate the relevance and depth of one’s Jewish identity!

While we often read article after article lamenting statistics which speak of an un-engaged generation of Jewish young adults, nothing could be further from reality.

That is why your support is so valuable.  It is fueling us to lead this charge.  Below is just a sample of the amazing programs that we are creating… and the impressive crowds that they are engaging!  Whether it’s the 50+ young ladies who attended our Judaism and Fertility event in partnership with Mount Sinai, a sold out Shabbat dinner of over 160 young professionals hosted at the luxurious Windsor Arms Hotel, or simply our latest Gamechangers event that spoke of the importance of work-life balance, together we are showing that we do not live in a time of rampant assimilation.  Rather, if Judaism is presented in an authentic and inspiring manner, there is a great desire to reconnect.

Thank you for your ongoing support of The House and commitment to our Jewish continuity and community.

Chag Purim Sameach!
