>>> JEN ARMEL

Director of marketing and communication at The Behar Group Realty

So much negative energy is wasted on whining and complaining, when instead we could be focusing on all the good around us.

With a passion for people, Jen Armel uses kindness and optimism to guide her life.

“So much negative energy is wasted on whining and complaining, when instead we could be focusing on all the good around us.”

Jen writes to remind herself of this. “I write down my concerns, and what I am grateful for. Slowly, I train my mind to think about the abundance I have, which makes my worries seem miniscule in comparison.”

Since she was eight, Jen has kept a journal. Now, her collection of books acts as a memoir of her trajectory. “I have so many journals to look back on. I see how my writing has progressed and who I have become. Every entry is part of my story and journey.”

Following her passion for words, Jen founded TO Millennials, a blog that brings together like-minded individuals to discuss topics from all parts of life: from real estate to relationships and everything in between. “I wanted to create an online community where young people can share their experiences living in Toronto.”

Currently, Jen works as the director of marketing and communications at The Behar Group Realty. But, despite her skills in digital marketing, Jen believes nothing compares to communication outside of cyberspace. “The world needs more face to face conversation, so we can get to know each other without assumptions.”

Taking her communication skills offline, Jen is also an involved member of the Toronto Vegetarian Association. She believes in its mission of inspiring people to live and eat with compassion, and to make mindful choices about the food they consume.

She puts these values into practice by thinking critically about the way she lives her life, and urges others to do the same. “Our every action affects other people’s lives. It’s a matter of mindfulness, and being aware of our impact in all parts of life.”

Propelled by her drive to help others, Jen aspires towards a world of kindness. “When you can be anything, be kind. From there, things will work out.”
