Because sweetness doesn’t just come from sugar
When you’re cold, you have hot chocolate. When you get a shot at the doctor’s, you get a lolly. When you’re dumped… well, you hug a tub of ice cream. Yes, there’s certainly a lot to be said for the healing properties of dessert, and how it lifts spirits. We’ve all experienced a time that called for a little something extra, something special. Now, we must make it (and bake it) for others who have the need, too!
During this unique two-part event, volunteers will first bake home-made delicacies, then serve them the following day to the homeless who frequent the “Out of the Cold” program at Beth Emeth Synagogue. To further sweeten the deal, there will be live music accompaniment (courtesy of Eldan Cohen), and dancing for whoever’s inspired.
Just Desserts Edition promises to be the finishing “cherry” on top of a traditional Out of the Cold meal – transforming an otherwise typical experience into one of frivolity and levity, with all the trimmings and accoutrements that will make recipients feel as special as we know them to be.
