Sign up as a team of 5 and get ready to receive to square off in a competition that you would least likely expect to find Jews...using Power tools!!

 

You bring the Team - we provide the Team Shirt, wood, nails, and all materials and get ready for our 2nd annual Sukkah building challenge!

 

AND not only will you design, cut, build, and decorate your sukkah which will be judged by professionals for various categories  -but it will enable organizations such as JF&CS, Ve'Ahacta and others to use these structure during sukkot!

October 12 2008 - Raising A Glass - 7:00pm
An exploration into the world of kosher wine!

Start the year off right by seeing the glass half full.

 

Join us at The House with special guest Rabbi Mordechai Levin, executive director of Kashruth Council of Canada, as we taste and explore the world of Kosher wine. 

 

In conjunction with Heebonics and Canadian Jewish news.  



October 16 2008 - Second Look Series: - 8:00pm
Is the Material World Immaterial

On one hand we make money and enjoy spending it and then we are asked to live in a shack for 7 days during Sukkot. 

 

Find out how we view the balance and struggle between these two worlds.

 

Wine and Sushi will be served

 

A second look is a "House" series of thought based discussions for young adults who are looking for a Judaism that works in the real world!

 



October 16 2008 - Veahavta Volunteer night - 5 -9pm
volunteer with Veahavta as they get ready for a mission to Guyana
The House is teaming up with Ve'ahavta in preparation for Veahavta's upcoming medical mission to Guyana in November.
 
 
 
Volunteers will be packing pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies for the mission in our sukkah.
They are also going to hear an inspiring personal account from one of the most experienced participants on the mission: Leah Aronson.

October 19 2008 - JF&CS Sukkah Party - 11:00 -1:30pm
The House is partnering with JF&CS for the 2nd annual Sukkah Party
The House is partnering with Jewish Family and Child Services (JFCS) to run our 2nd annual Sukkah party for JFCS clients.
We are going to have a music workshop, a drum circle, pizza and snacks in our big Sukkah.

The 'What's The Deal With' Speaker series has obtained some significant star power this October with Dr.Rick Hodes.

 

CNN has selected Dr. Rick Hodes, JDC’s Medical Director in Ethiopia as a finalist in the “Championing Children” category of “CNN Heroes,”

a program which highlights “ordinary” people for their extraordinary achievements.

 

Dr. Hodes was selected from among thousands for his exemplary work caring for those with heart disease, spine disease, and cancer in Ethiopia over the past two decades.
